  • Biotechnology 

Biotechnology can be simply understood as bringing together natural sciences and engineering sciences. Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary science where we manipulate the DNA of living organisms thereby creating products for the betterment and help of mankind. Here a student explores the widest range of genes and microorganisms and utilises them commercially in pharmaceutical, agriculture and the biotechnological industry. 

The biotechnology industry is comparatively new at the moment because of which the scope is still questioned. The biggest example of the high scope in biotechnology is the COVID-19 Vaccine, as it was only possible because of the biotechnologists and microbiologists rigorously working on it. 

Eligibility 

NEET is not the criteria to get into a biotechnology course. The basic eligibility criteria is PCM or PCB in 10+2. The percentage required may vary from 55% to anything higher varying from college to college. There are two nomenclatures of degrees B.Sc and B. Tech in biotechnology. B.Sc Biotechnology Honours is a 3 years degree course where you are taught subjects surrounding Biotechnology only whereas B.Tech biotechnology is a four years course where you will be exposed to the other fields of engineering as well.
